The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old woman, Rukayyah Amadu, for allegedly killing her co-wife, 30-year-old Asiyah Amadu, by pouring hot water on her during a domestic dispute.
According to SP Shi’isu Adam, the Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa Police Command, the tragic incident occurred on February 24, 2025, in Buju village, Dutse Local Government Area (LGA). The altercation between the two women escalated, leading Rukayyah to douse Asiyah with scalding water, causing severe burns.
“Asiyah Amadu sustained severe burns and was rushed to Dutse General Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead on March 4, 2025, at about 09:00 am,” the police statement read.
Following her arrest, Rukayyah Amadu confessed to the crime and has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse for further investigation. Authorities are now working to uncover the circumstances leading to the deadly altercation.

In a separate case, the Jigawa State Police are investigating the brutal killing of a 22-year-old newly married woman, Zainab Ibrahim.
The incident occurred in Warware Quarters, Hadejia LGA, where she was found unconscious in a pool of blood inside her matrimonial home.
Police officers, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Hadejia, discovered that Zainab had a deep cut on her throat, indicating she was murdered. She was immediately rushed to the General Hospital in Hadejia, but doctors confirmed she had succumbed to her injuries.

Headless Body of 14-Year-Old Found in Suspected Ritual Killing
In yet another disturbing case, the police discovered the mutilated body of a 14-year-old almajiri, Bashir Adamu, along Jikas-Dabaja village in Gwaram LGA.
The victim, who had been missing for two days, was found decapitated and severely mutilated, raising suspicions of ritual killing.
The family of the deceased identified the body and reported his disappearance. Law enforcement officials suspect that Bashir was murdered by ritualists, a growing concern in certain parts of the country where human body parts are reportedly used for occult rituals and money-making schemes.
“An investigation is underway to apprehend the perpetrators,” police spokesperson SP Shi’isu Adam confirmed.
