Governor Suspends Three Commissioners for Absenteeism

Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, suspended three commissioners on Tuesday for their absenteeism from official duties. The suspended commissioners are Solomon Azi (Grants and Donor Agencies), Victor Chukwu (Environment), and Ikeuwa Omebe (Rural Development).

Suspensions Due to Absence from Executive Council Meeting

Each commissioner was suspended for one month after failing to attend the State Executive Council meeting on Monday without prior approval. Jude Okpor, the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, announced the suspensions at a briefing following the council meeting.

Governor Issues Strong Warning Against Absenteeism

Okpor stressed that the governor had issued a stern warning to public servants about absenteeism and a lackadaisical attitude towards work. He emphasized that such behavior would not be tolerated within the administration.

Suspended Commissioners Stripped of Privileges

During their suspension, the affected commissioners will lose all privileges associated with their positions. Okpor made it clear that the governor’s decision was intended to maintain discipline within the government.

Governor Orders Contractors to Accelerate Work

In addition, Governor Nwifuru directed contractors handling government projects to speed up their work. He reminded them to adhere strictly to their contractual agreements. The governor also warned that legal measures would be taken if contractors failed to comply.
