The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has opened an investigation into a fatal train accident in Abuja. The incident occurred along the Gwagwa-Idu railway line on March 24, 2025.

Police Respond to Distress Call

According to the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, officers received a distress call around 11 a.m. on the day of the incident. The call reported an unconscious woman on the railway tracks near Zeberced Company, Idu.

Police officers immediately rushed to the location. On arrival, they found the lifeless body of a woman, severely disfigured. The authorities believe a moving train struck her.

Body Taken to Hospital for Confirmation

The police evacuated the remains to Kubwa General Hospital. Medical personnel at the hospital confirmed her death on arrival.

SP Adeh stated that the victim remains unidentified. Investigators are working to establish her identity and contact her family.

Investigation Underway

The FCT Police Command has assured the public that a full investigation is in progress. Authorities aim to uncover the circumstances that led to the fatal accident.

SP Adeh urged anyone with information about the victim to contact the police. She stressed the importance of community support in identifying the woman and reaching her next of kin.
