On March 4, 2025, at approximately 10:20 PM, Odutayo drove a Ford Edge Jeep (Registration No. LND 418 JR) recklessly. She drove through the entrance gate traffic light junction at 1004 Housing Estate, Ozumba Mbadiwe Road, Victoria Island, Lagos. The charges allege that Odutayo showed no regard for other road users, leading to a fatal crash. In the collision, Opayele, riding a power bike, lost his life.
The prosecutor’s charge sheet further states: “While in control of the Ford Edge Jeep, you drove the vehicle recklessly and carelessly, resulting in the death of one Adetunji Opayele, aged 32, thereby committing an offense under Section 52 of the Road Traffic Law of Lagos State, 2018.”
Court Appearance and Bail
Odutayo appeared in court on March 12, 2025. She pleaded not guilty to the charges. The court granted her bail in the amount of N1 million, with two sureties. The case was adjourned to April 16, 2025, for further proceedings.
