Celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, is gearing up for yet another groundbreaking achievement as she prepares to cook the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
A trending video shows Baci stirring a test batch of the dish in a specially designed pot with the support of her team and cheering fans. This rehearsal forms part of the build-up to her official record-breaking attempt, which will take place on September 12, 2025, at Muri Okunola Park, Lagos, during the Gino World Jollof Festival.
The festival, which celebrates West African culture, food, and music, will be open to the public free of charge. Organizers revealed that live performances from top Nigerian artists will entertain attendees while history is made in the giant pot.
Baci, whose culinary excellence earned her global fame following her 2023 Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, explained that this event is more than a personal milestone.
“Six metres wide. Six metres tall. On September 12, we make history together. Because what is jollof without you to share it with?” she said on Instagram.
She further highlighted that food has always been a unifying factor for Africans, and this attempt symbolizes cultural pride and collective achievement.
Frontpagenews.ng reports that excitement continues to build online as Nigerians at home and abroad gear up for the historic event.
