The organizers of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) have released the official list of nominees for 2025. These nominations recognize excellence in film, television, and digital storytelling produced between January 1 and December 31, 2024.

Lisabi, Skeleton Coast, and Seven Doors lead nominations
Several titles dominated this year’s nomination list. Lisabi: The Uprising, Skeleton Coast, House of Ga’a, and Freedom Way received multiple nods. These include nominations in major categories such as Best Movie, Best Director, and Best Editing.

The Best Multichoice Talent Factory Movie category includes submissions from across Africa. Titles like Gone, Everything Light Touches, and The Immersive Alarm highlight fresh talent.
Meanwhile, indigenous language films such as Seven Doors, Kaka, and Mai Martaba dominate West African entries. South African and East African films also featured prominently, reflecting the award’s pan-African focus.
Behind-the-scenes work takes center stage
In technical categories, Inkabi, Lisabi: The Uprising, and Skeleton Coast earned nominations for Best Editing, Cinematography, and Sound Design.
Art direction, makeup, and costume categories saw creative brilliance from titles like House of Ga’a, Christmas in Lagos, and Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre.
