Ayra Starr Hails Wizkid as a Living Legend

Ayra Starr has paid glowing tribute to fellow Nigerian superstar Wizkid, describing him as a true icon whose quiet confidence left a lasting impression on her.

Speaking in an interview following her performance at the Grammy Museum on Tuesday, the *Rush* hitmaker opened up about her experiences working with Wizkid and the lessons she has drawn from observing him closely. According to Ayra Starr, being around the globally celebrated artist reshaped her understanding of confidence and purpose.

She explained that during their early collaborations, Wizkid’s calm and composed nature stood out, teaching her that self-assurance does not always come with loudness or grand gestures.

“Wizkid is a leading legend — everyone knows that,” she said. “The first time I worked with him, I was in disbelief and just being myself. The second time, I noticed how calm, cool and relaxed he was. That’s when I understood that confidence doesn’t have to be noisy. He’s very grounded and clear about his life’s mission, and I learned so much from that.”

Meanwhile, Wizkid himself has been making headlines after expressing admiration for fast-rising Afrobeats star Asake. During a recent conversation on Apple Music Radio with DJ Tunez, the Grammy-winning singer revealed that he would love Asake to perform at his wedding someday.
