Asake Expresses Sorrow After Fan Dies in Nairobi Concert Stampede

Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Asake, born Ahmed Ololade, has expressed profound sorrow following the death of a fan during a stampede outside his concert in Nairobi, Kenya.

The tragic event occurred on December 20, 2025, at Nyayo National Stadium, where Asake shared the stage with British-Nigerian singer Gabzy. Reports confirmed that a 20-year-old woman, identified as Karen Lojore, lost her life after being crushed near one of the stadium’s entry points.

According to Kenya’s National Police Service, a brief stampede erupted at the stadium entrance as fans sought to gain access. While the situation was quickly brought under control and the concert proceeded as planned, the incident led to the unfortunate death of Karen.

A police spokesperson stated: “During a musical concert at Nyayo National Stadium, there was a brief stampede at the entrance gate. Although the crowd later stabilized, tragically, a 20-year-old woman was pressed to death near the entry point.”

In response, Asake took to Instagram to convey his condolences and shock at the incident. He described the loss as devastating and offered support to the family and loved ones of the late fan.

He wrote: “I am devastated by the tragic incident that took place at the festival on December 20th in Nairobi. My heart goes out to the family, friends, and loved ones of Karen Lojore, and I pledge to support and do my best to understand what happened. Those responsible should be held accountable.”

The Afrobeats star emphasized that music has always been his way of spreading love and joy, expressing heartbreak that such a tragedy occurred during a celebration of music.

He concluded his message with a prayer for the young woman’s soul and a call for accountability: “My thoughts are with everyone grieving, and I pray that Karen rests in peace. God bless Kenya.”

This incident has left fans and attendees in mourning, highlighting the need for careful crowd management at major events in the region.
