After Musa Kida apologizes, Sunday Dare accepts Nigeria Basketball’s apology.

Following an apology from President Engineer Musa Kida to the ministry, Sunday Dare, the minister of youth and sports, has granted forgiveness to Nigeria Basketball.

Recall that Nigeria’s participation in all international tournaments was withdrawn by the Federal government through the ministry.

D’Tigress, the Nigerian women’s basketball team, lost their tickets to the 2022 FIBA Women’s World Cup to Mali as a result of this action.

The government said in a statement in May that the sport was banned due to the ongoing turmoil that has beset Nigerian basketball.

President Buhari has authorized Nigeria’s two-year ban from all international basketball events due to the ongoing turmoil that has hampered and almost destroyed the growth of basketball in Nigeria.

He declared, “This is effective immediately.”

According to a statement issued today and signed by Ismaila Abubakar, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Musa Kida’s apology has abruptly ended the crisis and things are returning to normal.

“In an appeal letter to Sunday Dare, the Minister of Sports, Nigeria Basketball NBBF President Musa Kida expressed regret for the humiliation the stakeholders caused the game in Nigeria, which led to the Federal Government barring basketball from all international competitions for two years.”

What happens to the misplaced tickets to Mali is the key question. Following the ban, Mali has replaced Nigeria, which defeated France to earn a ticket to the FIBA Women’s World Cup in September in Belgrade.
