Adeleke Mourns Bayelsa Deputy Governor Ewhrudjakpo’s Sudden Death

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has expressed deep grief over the sudden death of Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Oborawharievwo Ewhrudjakpo, describing his passing as a significant blow to the South-South political sphere.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke noted that Ewhrudjakpo was not only a key figure in Bayelsa politics but also someone with meaningful ties to Osun’s political development.

He recalled the deputy governor’s pivotal role as chairman of the 2022 Osun PDP gubernatorial primary election committee, where he helped settle internal disputes and ensured a smooth and credible process—one that eventually paved the way for Adeleke’s victory at the polls.

Adeleke added that his relationship with the late deputy governor extended beyond the primaries, highlighting the warm hospitality Ewhrudjakpo consistently showed during the governor’s visits to Bayelsa.

Reflecting on his career, Governor Adeleke praised Ewhrudjakpo’s steady rise through public service—from serving as Commissioner for Works under former Governor Seriake Dickson, to representing Bayelsa West in the Senate, and later becoming a dependable deputy to Governor Douye Diri.

He described Ewhrudjakpo as a loyal statesman who fostered unity and built alliances across party lines, leaving behind a legacy of cooperation and service.
