On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, the Kano State Fire Service successfully recovered the lifeless body of a 45-year-old man from a well in Babawa village, located in the Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
Emergency Response and Recovery
The Fire Service’s control room received an emergency call around 12:59 hrs from a police officer, ASP Kabiru Lawan of the Gezawa Police Division, reporting the incident. According to the statement released by the Fire Service on Wednesday, an emergency rescue team was promptly dispatched to the scene and arrived at 13:25 hrs.
Upon arrival, the team discovered the body of a man, approximately 45 years old, whose identity remains unknown. The man appeared unconscious when initially found in the well.
Efforts to Save the Victim
Despite immediate rescue efforts, the man could not be revived and was confirmed dead, with exhaustion suspected as the cause of death after prolonged exposure. The body was later handed over to ASP Kabiru Lawan for further investigation and action by the police.
This unfortunate incident remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact circumstances leading to the man’s death.
