The Gombe State Police Command has detained five teenagers in connection with the death of a man following an altercation at a wedding ceremony in Jauro Ali village. The suspects, identified as Jauro Babawuro (17), Yayaji Bello (16), Baffaji Adamu (16), Babangida Dotti (18), and Yaya Bapati (17), are alleged to have attacked the victim during a disagreement, resulting in fatal injuries.
Incident Details
The tragic event occurred on December 21, 2024, around 10 PM, during a wedding celebration. According to Police Public Relations Officer Buhari Abdullahi, the disagreement between the suspects and the victim escalated into violence.
“The victim’s father, Dotti Manu, from Wuro Wandara village, reported that his son was beaten with sticks by the suspects during the altercation. This attack caused severe internal injuries,” Abdullahi explained.
The victim was rushed to Kowa Clinic Tongo for treatment but succumbed to his injuries despite medical intervention. His body has been deposited at General Hospital Bajoga for an autopsy.

The Gombe State Police Command has initiated a thorough investigation into the incident. Abdullahi assured the public that the suspects would face prosecution upon the completion of the investigation. “The case is under active investigation, and all efforts are being made to ensure justice is served,” he stated.
