Man Remanded for Alleged Theft of N10m SUV in Lagos

A 38-year-old man, Segun Oladeyo, has been remanded following his arraignment before a Lagos Magistrate Court in Igbosere for allegedly stealing a Toyota 4Runner SUV valued at N10 million. The defendant, whose residential address was not provided, faces charges of conspiracy and stealing, as filed by the police.

Alleged Crime Details

The prosecutor, Inspector Cyriacus Osuji, informed the court that Oladeyo conspired with others, who are currently at large, to commit the alleged crime. According to Osuji, the theft occurred on December 4, 2024, at around 10:30 a.m., at Adekola Balogun Street, Marwa, Lagos.

The stolen vehicle, a Toyota 4Runner SUV with registration number KRD 764 FX, is the property of Sayeed Farms Limited.

Osuji stated that the defendant’s actions contravened Sections 411 and 287(7) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

Plea and Bail Conditions

Oladeyo pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. Presiding Magistrate Mrs. O. Wahab granted him bail in the sum of N1 million, with two sureties in like sum.

The court outlined specific conditions for the sureties, which include:

  • Being gainfully employed.
  • One of the sureties must be a blood relation of the defendant.
  • Providing evidence of tax payments to the Lagos State Government.
  • Residing within Lagos, with their addresses verified by the court.

Until Oladeyo fulfills these bail conditions, he will remain at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre.

The case has been adjourned until February 6, 2024, for mention.
