The Delta State Police Command has apprehended more than 12 suspected armed robbers as they were preparing to execute a robbery operation. This significant arrest was announced on Friday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, in a post on X.com.

Edafe revealed that the officers acted on intelligence and swiftly moved in on the suspects, disrupting their plans before they could carry out their criminal activities.

“While they were preparing for another operation, we swooped in on them, arrested over twelve of the suspected armed robbers, and recovered an English pistol, one long double-barrel gun, a locally made cut-to-size gun, and over seven cutlasses,” Edafe stated.

In a video shared alongside the announcement, two of the suspects admitted to their involvement in previous robberies. They disclosed that they often gained access to their victims’ homes by scaling fences. They also noted that some of their successes were due to victims leaving their doors unlocked at night.

SP Edafe used the opportunity to advise residents to remain vigilant and take basic security precautions, emphasizing the importance of locking doors, especially during nighttime.

“Please always lock your door, especially at night!” he urged.

The arrest underscores the command’s continued efforts to tackle armed robbery and other criminal activities in the state.
