Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, successfully neutralized scores of bandits in the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State during a decisive operation on Sunday. Several other bandits reportedly fled with severe injuries.

Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Centre for Operation Fansan Yamma, confirmed the development in a statement on Monday, detailing the swift response of the troops to a distress call from residents and vigilantes in Yar Galadima village.

The operation commenced after the troops received reports of a terrorist attack in the early hours of Sunday. Abdullahi stated, “The troops responded promptly to provide assistance and restore peace to the affected area.”

During their approach to the village, the troops encountered ambushes set up by terrorists at two separate locations. The ambush sites were cleared, leading to the neutralization of several bandits, while others fled.

To support the ground operation, the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma deployed aircraft to provide close air support. Abdullahi explained, “As the troops continued their advance towards the village, the fleeing terrorists were also engaged by the aircraft, leading to the neutralisation of scores of terrorists.”

The operation successfully restored calm to the area and reaffirmed the commitment of the Joint Task Force to eliminating terrorist threats in the North West region. Lieutenant Colonel Abdullahi assured residents that the troops remain resolute in their mission to ensure the safety and security of the affected communities.
