Access Bank has categorically denied allegations of unethical practices involving N500m purportedly missing from a deceased customer’s account, following claims made by social media influencer Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan.
In a statement released on its social media platforms on Sunday, the bank emphasized its commitment to the safety and security of customer funds, describing the allegations as baseless and untrue.
The statement read:
“Our attention has been drawn to a video on social media wherein allegations of missing funds and unethical behaviour have been made against Access Bank Plc. First and foremost, we wish to emphasize that the safety and security of our customers’ funds are core priorities that we take seriously.
“Second, Access Bank Plc does not engage in or condone any unethical behaviour. In the instant case, the allegations of missing funds in the bank are most untrue and baseless. There is no N500m or any other fund or amount missing from the subject customer’s account or any other customer’s account with us.”
The bank further stated that independent investigations conducted by Access Bank and other stakeholders in the banking sector corroborated their findings that no funds were missing.
“Access Bank Plc operates with the highest ethical standards, protecting our customers’ interests while respecting privacy laws,” the statement added.
The bank also urged the public to avoid relying on sensational and unverified claims, emphasizing its commitment to maintaining transparency and customer trust.
