Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman has earned a spot among the nominees for the prestigious 2024 Best Men’s Player award at the annual Globe Soccer Awards. The recognition was announced on Thursday by the Dubai Sports Council via X.

Lookman, who has been in stellar form for Serie A side Atalanta, stands alongside footballing icons Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé, and Erling Haaland in the star-studded lineup of nominees. The former Leicester City and RB Leipzig player has established himself as one of the brightest talents in European football, solidifying his position on the global stage.

The nominee list includes a mix of seasoned superstars and emerging talents from Europe’s top leagues. Representing English football, Manchester City’s Phil Foden, Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham, and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer have also made the cut. Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal add further youthful flair to the nominations.

Legends Messi and Ronaldo remain ever-present, continuing to shine despite advancing stages in their illustrious careers. Other notable nominees include Bundesliga stars Robert Lewandowski and Leroy Sané, as well as La Liga’s Federico Valverde, Vinícius Júnior, and Alejandro Grimaldo.

The Globe Soccer Awards emphasized the importance of public engagement, stating, “The nominees with the highest number of votes will form the shortlist of finalists in this category.”

This year marks the 15th edition of the Beyond Development Dubai Globe Soccer Awards, scheduled for December 27. The event will coincide with the 19th Dubai International Sports Conference, underscoring its significance as a highlight of the football calendar.
