The Bauchi State Branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has constructed a Tuberculosis Directly Observed Treatment (DOT) center valued at over N4 million and donated critical hospital equipment to support healthcare delivery in the Buzaye, Ganjuwa, and Dawaki wards of Bauchi Local Government Area.

The initiative, executed through the CBN’s Alms Committee, is part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility efforts aimed at improving community health infrastructure.

During the handover ceremony, the Head of Banking Services at CBN Bauchi branch, Umar Aminu, reaffirmed the bank’s dedication to addressing community needs through targeted interventions.

“This year, our focus is on health,” Umar stated, noting that past projects included borehole installations for water supply and classroom furniture donations. “Our hope is that communities will utilize these resources judiciously for long-term benefit,” he added.

The newly completed facility was handed over to the Community Head of Ganjuwa, Aminu Ibrahim Tsoho, who expressed gratitude on behalf of the residents. Tsoho commended the CBN for completing the project promptly and assured the bank of the community’s commitment to maintaining the center.

“The residents are working tirelessly to ensure the facility remains in good condition, just as they maintain the hospital,” he said, urging healthcare staff to perform their duties diligently for the community’s benefit.

Bashir Shehu Nababa, the officer in charge of the Ganjuwa Primary Healthcare Centre, also expressed appreciation for the intervention. “We are happy to be among the beneficiaries, and we will take good care of this building,” Nababa assured, emphasizing his team’s dedication to sustaining the facility.

Hauwa Yohanna Adamu, the officer in charge of Urban Maternity Kofar Ran, highlighted the importance of the newly donated medical equipment. “These items are very important to our work, and we were in dire need of them. We are very grateful,” she said.

The CBN’s intervention underscores its ongoing commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for residents in underserved communities.
