The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced an increase in the number of train services on the Abuja-Kaduna route, expanding from four to six weekday trips to accommodate growing demand. This update, detailed in a statement by NRC Deputy Director of Public Relations Yakub Mohmood, takes effect from Monday through Friday.

The decision follows a five-month analysis showing a 22% rise in new passenger registrations on the ticketing platform, attributed to increasing passenger preference for train services due to their comfort, safety, and reliability. The corporation aims to improve customer satisfaction and curb ticket racketeering, an issue frequently raised by passengers.

“The NRC, reaffirming its dedication to customer needs and tackling complaints of ticket racketeering, has adjusted its AKTS route services to meet peak weekday demand,” the statement noted.

Acting Managing Director Ben Iloanusi highlighted that similar growth trends are observed on other routes, including Lagos-Ibadan, Warri-Itakpe, and Port Harcourt-Aba, with service enhancements underway for these lines as well.

Customers are encouraged to purchase tickets online through NRC platforms to avoid ticket racketeers, with further information available on the NRC website at www.nrc.gov.ng. This expansion on the Abuja-Kaduna route mirrors recent adjustments on the Lagos-Ibadan route, where additional trips have been added on Fridays and Saturdays.
