The Federal Government has suspended 13 students from Federal Government College, Enugu State, for six weeks following a bullying incident that gained public attention through a viral video. This decision was announced by Folashade Boriowo, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Ministry of Education, on Wednesday.
Minister of Education Dr. Tunji Alausa ordered the suspension in response to the video, which revealed students physically assaulting a day student in SS1 on November 7. The Ministry formed a disciplinary committee to investigate, and based on its findings, the involved students have been temporarily suspended.
Alausa emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring safety in federal schools nationwide. He also directed the School-Based Management Committee to work with security agencies to thoroughly investigate any possible external affiliations. Additional security measures and revised safety protocols are being implemented at the college, and counseling and rehabilitation will be provided to support a positive reintegration of all students involved.
