Abia State Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, confirmed on Thursday the tragic killing of Victor Udensi, a bank employee, and two others in Umuahia, pledging swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice. While addressing journalists at the police headquarters in Umuahia, Isa explained that Udensi was attacked Wednesday evening in the Isi Court area of Olokoro, Umuahia South, by three armed men operating with a tricycle, known locally as “Keke.”
According to the CP, Udensi was accosted at approximately 8 p.m. when the armed men attempted to force him into the trunk of his car. Udensi resisted and, while trying to escape, was shot in the back by the attackers. The gunmen unsuccessfully attempted to drive away in Udensi’s vehicle before turning their attention to another unsuspecting driver in a Toyota Camry. When the second driver resisted, the assailants shot him, resulting in his immediate death.
While escaping towards Ubakala, the gunmen encountered a tricycle blocking their path and fatally shot the driver in a bid to clear their route. An eyewitness recounted that passersby rushed Udensi to a nearby hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
CP Isa revealed that a manhunt for the suspects is underway, and assured the public that those responsible for the crimes will be brought to justice.
