On social media, pictures of Mikel Obi playing football with kids on a sandy field in Ebutte Meta, Lagos, are going viral.
The photos were taken on the Midfielders’ trip to raise awareness of his “Back to Base” talent hunt campaign.
From June 9–11, 2022, the University of Lagos sports center hosted a successful talent hunt event where young people showcased their football and tennis skills.
After the birth of the “Back to Base” talent in June in Lagos, Nigeria, Mikel Obi has utilized his time off from playing football to support grassroots initiatives.
At the inaugural talent hunt concluding ceremony, Mikel Obi, who is presently a Youth Ambassador, pledged to expand future iterations to include additional Nigerian states.
