An hour after they held hosts Wikki Tourist to a 0-0 draw, pictures of injured Enyimba Fc captain Austin Oladapo, Cyril Olisema, and a backup staff surfaced on social media.
Cyril Olisema, a midfielder, posted a picture of himself getting treatment along with a heartfelt statement regretting the unlucky attack by Bauchi supporters following the conclusion of the NPFL Matchday 19 match.
Fans and football stakeholders have strongly denounced the incident and urged the League Management organization to act swiftly to halt the harmful trend of hooliganism in the Nigerian football scene.
Although the league body has not yet issued a statement, Wikki Tourist will be subject to the LMC’s wrath if they are judged to have failed to maintain adequate security and to maintain control over their fans, especially in light of recent sanctions imposed on negligent clubs.
