The Beatz Awards in 2022 were a night of pure entertainment, with performers who had performed well receiving recognition for their achievements.
Three comedians, Deeone, Phronesis, and Saco, hosted the event at The Muson Centre in Onikan, Lagos.
Popular musician Davido took home the “Best Songwriter Award,” while Blaise Beat was named producer of the year. Olawunmi Okerayi, better known as DJ Lambo, is the president of Choc Boi Nation and a female disc jockey. She also won the title of “Female DJ of the Year” for the second time in a row.
Cobhams Asuquo, a well-known vocalist and music producer, received recognition with the “Lifetime Achievement Award.”
The “Entertainment TV Station of the Year” award went to Sliverbird Television, and the “Entertainment Cable Station of the Year” went to MTV Base. This occurred even as music producer Samuel Giveson, often known as SMJ, was awarded “Afro Gospel Producer of the Year.”
Tosan Wilshare was named the winner of “Best On-Air Personality,” Sean Okeke was named “Best Artiste Manager of the Year,” TG Omori was named “Best Music Video Director,” and YBNL was named “Best Record Label.” VTek was named the “Best Mixing and Mastering Engineer,” while Boomplay was named the “Best Music Streaming Platform.”
Elijah John, the CEO of the Beatz Awards, emphasized the importance of rewarding and fostering talent, saying, “We need to recognise the talents behind the stars; those people who make these things happen.” Even if they work behind the scenes, we wish to inform the public about the wealth of the sector and how they can take advantage of its opportunities.
