The governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has stated that one of his economic priorities is to create a thriving atmosphere for the entertainment sector.

This was said by the governor in a statement released on Monday and signed by Mr. Gboyega Akosile, his chief press secretary.

Sanwo-Olu revealed his support for the 15th Headies award, which he would be attending in September in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

“It is not something we have just created today; as a government, we have always included creating a thriving business for creatives in our entertainment industry as part of our economic agenda,” he stated. We are thrilled to be working with creative community practitioners to find new talent and export our music as well as our culture.

“The Heroes Award is Africa’s equivalent of the Grammy Award.” Given the location, it’s a local flavor going global, and the event is scheduled for the coming few days. Our support for the initiative is strategic. Our entertainers and artists are being flown to Atlanta, where they will have access to bigger stages for future show the rich culture and values Lagos represents.”

The intervention of the Lagos State government, according to Kenny Ogungbe, the founder of Kennis Music, is a development that has the potential to propel numerous local talents to the global arena.

“This is a powerful turning point for the music industry, now that we have a reasonable government that believes in the future of youths and their talents coming to support creative young people,” the speaker declared.
