The NDLEA has revealed that the operation which resulted in the arrest of Lagos socialite Pretty Mike and more than 100 guests at a club in Victoria Island was triggered after organisers circulated flyers advertising a drug-themed party.
According to the agency in its official statement, operatives had received credible intelligence regarding the event at the venue, Proxy Night Club, located at 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island. Surveillance was conducted between 11 p.m. on Saturday, 25 October and about 3 a.m. on Sunday when the raid took place.
During the operation, NDLEA says it recovered cartons of “Canadian Loud” — a potent strain of cannabis — along with other illicit substances including nitrous oxide (laughing gas) from the club’s store and the party-venue.
The statement criticised the event organisers for having “the audacity to produce and circulate flyers inviting fun-seekers to come and commit crime.” “Any gathering organised for the purpose of consuming, distributing or abusing illicit substances is an act of criminality,” the agency declared.
While the agency said most attendees were profiled, counselled and released, the club owner Pretty Mike and the club manager remain in custody as principal suspects.

The NDLEA also warned that property owners and event-centres that knowingly allow such activities face forfeiture of their premises to the Federal Government.
The incident underscores NDLEA’s intensification of enforcement efforts against “drug-parties” — a trend the agency says poses a serious threat to public health, youth wellbeing and national security.
