A tragic domestic dispute in the Wellington Bassey Barracks, Ibagwa (Abak LGA), has resulted in the death of a Nigerian Army medical officer, Lt. Samson Haruna.

The incident, according to sources, occurred on September 22 and culminated in the arrest of his wife, who allegedly set him ablaze after a confrontation.

What Happened

Lt. Haruna, serving as the Regimental Medical Officer (RMO) at the 6th Battalion, was reportedly involved in a heated altercation with his wife, Mrs. Haruna.

The argument escalated, and she is accused of pouring petroleum (PMS) over him and setting him on fire.

He was first taken to the Military Reference Section (MRS) within the barracks for urgent care, then transferred to the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital for intensive treatment.

Medical staff did everything possible, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

The Investigation

Security officials confirm that Mrs. Haruna has been arrested and is currently in custody as investigations are ongoing.
